Balmoral Grounds – Not advised when the royal family are in residence ( Easter, Christmas, Aug. & Sept.)

Linn O’Dee – Heather moorland on the southern fringe of the Cairngorms, one of the finest viewpoints
Loch Kinord – National Nature Reserve, excellent for both bird-watchers and wildlife spotters
Loch Muick – Balmoral Estate passing Glas-allt Shiel, built by Queen Victoria, detour to waterfalls
Rocks of Solitude – Follow North Esk upstream through an impressive gorge and woodland paths
Scolty Hill – A short, steep climb to the summit of Scolty Hil, climb the tower for countryside views
Seven Bridges – Circular walk that explores countryside around the town of Ballater
Slains Castle, Bullers of Buchan – Dracular inspiration Castle and naturally formed cliff arches
Stonehaven Harbour to Dunnottar Castle – A ruined coastal fortresses, perched on a gigantic rocky outcrop

Highland Games
Aboyne – Popular highland gathering which has been running for over 140 years
Ballater – Popular event held annually on the second Thursday in August
Braemar Gathering – Very popular highland games frequented each year by members of the Royal Family
Drumtochty Castle Grounds – Traditional highland games, known as the friendly games
Hazlehead – Highland games held within Hazlehead Park Aberdeen – ideal local event for the family
Glamis Castle Grounds – Known as the Strathmore highland games. These are held on the second Sunday in June.
