Bookworms meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 2.00pm
New members welcome.
A social evening where we have snacks ad drinks along with some duplicate bridge. Each couple hosts the event throughout the year. We generally play from mid September to May.
Pairs Social Bridge
A very social evening held in the same home each time. We all take a dish for Pot Luck eating and drinks to share. We play party Bridge finishing with a BBQ in June.
This is held the last Friday of each month 7.30pm for 8.00pm from September to June. New pairs are always welcome.
14-16 pairs of women play 28 hands of Bridge with each other pair from September to April in each other’s home. Usually this is played in the morning when the hostess serves morning coffee and then lunch. At the end of the year there is a prize giving lunch and at the beginning of the year there is a coffee morning so that you can organise all your bridge games.
A country group based Inverurie/Kemnay/Oldmeldrum play first and third Wednesday of the month at 9.30am.
A town group play second and fourth Wednesdays.
Each year we choose a different local charity and raise money for that charity. We do this by arranging daytime and evening events that members can enjoy. The events have been as diverse as talks about Natural Pearls and Forensic Fact and Fiction including a pathologist and a crime writer. We have garden parties, bridge lunches, quiz nights, wine tasting, race nights, fashion shows and golf clinics. See charity news for more information.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
We meet periodically at Cove Bay, Findon, where we are given individual tuition by a qualified instructor. Ear defenders and the gun are supplied and it is exciting skill to acquire.
Join us for a Coffee Morning, held in a member’s home on the third Thursday of each month. Here, within a smaller group, you have the perfect opportunity to meet and get to know new and existing PWC members.
Do you knit, sew, dress make, do patchwork, card making, beading, embroidery, tapestry, cross stitch or anything else? Do you fancy joining a group of like minded people? This group meets the second Tuesday morning of every month.
Day Trips and Tours
An opportunity to explore interesting venues in and around Aberdeen and Shire. In the company of like minded souls, we meet approx. every 4 -6 weeks for ½ day or day, often car pooling for ease of travel. As a club we are able to visit places that someone on their own would not be able to visit. We were recently invited to Robert Gordon University to see their very new Drilling Simulator. We have visited the Control Tower of the Aberdeen Harbour Board where we learned all about the Aberdeen port and spotted dolphins as an added extra. Both tours were amazing! Antique trails and Chocolate workshops are also part of our itinerary.
If you’re interested in trying different cuisines why not consider joining the Dinner Club? It’s great way to meet PWC members of all nationalities and their partners. You don’t have to be a marvellous cook, you just have to enjoy shopping, preparing and trying different foods. The season runs from September to June. There are two events that everyone attends, one at Christmas and the other a late Spring BBQ. In addition during the dinner club year there are six other themed evenings.
The venue is Deeside Golf Club, Golf Road, Bieldside, Aberdeen, AB15 9DL.
We start at 10.00 am on Tuesday mornings and play in teams of 3. Teams are made up of mixed abilities and we all have a handicap to help equalise play. In May, June and August we have Fun Bowls for anyone to have a go at bowling.
The walks are fun and offer plenty of opportunity for socialising amidst great Aberdeenshire scenery. We do a walk every month and if there is a pub or a cafe on route we stop for lunch but some-times it is just a picnic.
The walks range from easy to moderate and with distances from 4 to 6 miles. We always recommend that you wear suitable clothing and walking boots.
